1. Courses (Technical Education)

The aim of this training is to provide access to jobs and thus the opportunity to generate income. In this way, the migration movement can be reduced to a certain extent. In 2022, we developed 17 different courses in welding, sewing, carpentry, mobile phone repair, saddlery, oil painting and piñata making. A total of 216 people benefited from these courses and received a nationally recognised diploma from the INFOP (Instituto Nacional de Formación Profesional).

2. Computer Classes

In order to reduce the digital divide, we offered computer classes at 6 schools in rural peripheral areas. 92 students with an average age of 11 years benefited from these classes.

We also offered computer classes in the afternoon for students and teachers of a school for the deaf.

3. Instituto Técnico Santo Domingo Savio

We provided the public-school Instituto Técnico Santo Domingo Savio and its mechanics institute with internet access for the computer room as well as with teaching materials and spare parts. In this way, we helped 106 students to obtain their state-recognized diploma.

4. Nursing School

Thanks to our support, 22 new nurses were trained and certified last year. The graduates are now working in various health centres and hospitals in the western region of Honduras.

5. School Education Project (Strengthening Education)

In our attractive classrooms and large hall we welcomed 433 people, invited by 6 other organisations, to participate in further education, day courses and their diploma ceremonies. The rooms can be used for many purposes and are readily made available for educational purposes.

6. Scholarships

Every month, 25 students (10 nurses and 15 high school students from the Instituto Técnico Santo Domingo Savio) receive financial support that enables them to continue their education and pay for transport costs, for example. Without this small contribution, they would not be able to continue their education.

7. Social Projects

Hunger and malnutrition go hand in hand and are the consequences of the prevailing poverty in Honduras. That is why, thanks to the monthly food support, our foundation is trying to alleviate the suffering of 20 families (approx. 102 people) by giving them goods worth approx. CHF 70 every month.

The need for food, IT equipment, clothing, cleaning products and furniture has increased greatly. Items that we no longer have a use for or do not need ourselves, we shared with 32 organisations (2’463 people), including schools, a mother-child house, a children’s home and shelters for people living in need.

8. Extension and building Renovations

For holding welding and carpentry courses, we built a workshop with appropriate electrical installations and fitted it out with the necessary equipment, machines, furniture and tools.

9. Coffee Plantation

In 2022, an estimated 120 kilos of bananas, 30 kilos of plantains, 20 kilos of manioc (yuca), 30 kilos of pumpkin, 150 kilos of corn were harvested, and about 200 kilos of processed and packaged coffee, which is drunk at the Yo Quiero Ser children’s home.
