Visit from the van Kesteren Foundation
In early October, our board member Gerard van Kesteren visited us for 3 days along with three members of the board of the van Kesteren Foundation, Teresa, Hans and Nettie. For all of us, these were unforgettable days.
Our kids had prepared a little dance presentation and at the end they even animated the board members to dance. Together, we picked up the children from school and Gerard has even participated at school.
They brought various chocolates and all children received an envelope with a little money, so that each child may buy something. On the last night they invited us all for pizza. The Pizza Hut staff decorated the room beautifully and offered the children a piñata, which turned this evening into a big party.

Celebrations for all children's homes
This year, the organization CEPUDO has organised a party for more than 20 children's homes, as it were, for 600 children.
This year’s happening carried the slogan "We love Honduras", and all the prepared presentations had something to do with Honduras. 6 of our girls took part in the dance competition, dancing a Punta dance with a "Garifuna braid”, for which they received great applause and ultimately were able to take home the first prize.
Gabi represented our home as "India Bonita" and made a very good impression.
All the children are always particularly looking forward to this day, because they can take part in various competitions and games and meet "old friends" from other children's homes. David met a girl with whom he had lived at IHNFA 6 years ago, and he said that he was only now aware of how quickly the years have gone by at "yo quiero ser...”

Visit to the National Football Team’s training
The Honduran national football team was preparing for a World Cup qualifier here in San Pedro Sula, and we were invited to watch a training session. All the children anxiously awaited the arrival of the national bus at the fence and their joy was unbounded when the players finally arrived. They were very impressed and proud that they were allowed to see these well-known players from such close a distance and that they were even allowed to shake hands. The next day a report appeared in the local sports newspaper.

Amilcar got married
Amilcar, who has lived with us and helped us since 2008, got married on October 12, and our children were invited to attend the service.
Our girls got dressed up throughout the day and it was special for all of them to be at a beautiful church wedding.
For our children, it's also nice to see that Amilcar grew up in an orphanage and now leads a successful life, which means that he has managed to break the vicious circle of street children life.
He is employed as an office specialist at a coffee export factory, and studies psychology at the University in the evenings, and now he even bought a house. This model example motivates and shows our children that they should make use of their opportunities in life at “yo quiero ser...”.

New volunteer
Eliane Wildhaber from Maienfeld will stay at our home for 3 months as a volunteer. She already has extensive experience with children, and especially the little ones in the Sala Cuna benefit from her ideas and knowledge.
In the afternoon, she works individually with those children having great difficulty learning in school and after a few weeks, we could witness an improvement in the academic performance of these children.
The children enjoy Eliane's presence, who always has a friendly ear for them, offers them love, security and time and has become a good friend of everyone.
