Visit from Gerard van Kesteren
Our foundation council’s member Gerard van Kesteren visited us for the second time in October. We all were really excited about his visit and our kids prepared a surprise for him. 8 kids sang typical Honduran songs, Enrique sang a solo and a group performed a play.

After the performances, we were ready to dance. Gerard even had the courage to dance punta with Maria. He got everyone of us a „yo quiero ser…“ tee and treated the kids to ice cream in the afternoon. We enjoyed our time with him and hope that he will come back soon.

Children’s home gathering
CEPUDO is an organization that provides us with food, polish, toiletries, and gifts on a regular basis. Once a year, they organize a reunion of several children’s homes from Honduras. On that day, more than 600 girls and boys met here in San Pedro Sula. In the morning, various games were on the agenda and in the afternoon we had a Miss and Mister CEPUDO beauty contest, with a disco to round off. We sent Maria Dolores to the beauty contest. Unfortunately, she didn’t make it to the finals, even though all our kids supported her with lively applause. Instead, our kids’ dance performance proved popular and they were consistently asked for an encore

Staff dinner
Our Honduran staff is made up of 10 people. Everyone except Edwing live in our home and are daily faced with long working hours. Thus, it is of high importance to acknowledge their amazing efforts. Especially the educators sometimes have a rough ride being surrounded by kids during 15 hours a day, having to establish order and doing homework with the kids etc. In compensation, we organize a dinner event every once in a while, for them to experience a change of scene. Those evenings are usually great fun and everyone enjoys being together, the good atmosphere, the relaxing moments, the lovely food, and usually the atmosphere is so good that everyone feels the urge to dance.

Biking
Since all our kids have ended their school year with excellent, great, and partially mediocre success, they were allowed to be taught biking in reward.
Some of them got a handle on it pretty fast, others, however, needed more time. Unfortunately, they can only practice here on our home area, for it is too dangerous out in the streets. However, the kids don’t mind, and now, after a week’s time, most of them excel at biking and I’m sure that everyone will be able to bike by the end of the holidays.
