Our family has grown

It is with great pleasure that we introduce you to our newest three family members. The smallest is called Daniela and is one and a half years old. The middle one is called Jairon and is three years old. The oldest is called Pablo and is 4 years old.

The two boys came to us under especially bad health and psychological condition. During the first weeks they were very shy and withdrawn. You could feel that they were often left behind in life and therefore had lost their trust in people and in life in general. Over time, however, this changed and they began to feel very well, loved, cared for and safe with us. They opened up slowly and have now become really curious and radiant children.

It was much easier for Daniela. She is happy as soon as she gets something to eat, isn't shy and is always very active... She loves to dance and is a big smartphone fan. We suspect that her mother spent all her time with the smartphone.

At the moment our family in the children's home in San Pedro Sula consists of 41 children and teenagers.

Deworming

Thanks to a balanced, varied and healthy diet, our children are rarely ill.

Twice a year we deworm our children. The whole procedure lasts one week and most of them are afraid of this medical ordeal. The drugs taste really terrible, but they are necessary to kill all parasites. It is common for new children to vomit worms with a length of about 20 to 30 during this cure. That's why the children are well aware of the "zoo" they carry in their stomachs. For this reason, they let the treatment take place.

The week after they are allowed to eat the fine vitamin gummi bears. This is then to a certain extent the reward for taking the medication.

Class elections

In the primary school, class and school elections take place every year. Our children are also very popular and have been elected to various class offices; Anahy as cashier, Wendy as lawyer, Brayan as vice-president, Yaxel as lawyer and Alden as vowel 2.

The prerequisite for acceptance of the election is to be a good student. Furthermore, you have to be reliable and have some authority, be loyal and abide by all school norms.

It is very gratifying that Cesia, our sixth-grader, has been elected president of the school. She has only been attending this school since this year and has acquired a very good reputation in the first few months. She has been elected both school president and school representative by an absolute majority.

As in real elections, the children had to take an oath to keep and fulfill their duties in office and received a certificate of recognition.

Mother’s Day

Since most men in this country do not take the father role serious, most women are single mothers and must therefore represent both roles.

An Indian proverb says: "A child without a mother is a flower without rain". Since I am aware of this, I also know how important it is for them to have a mother figure.

And especially on special days like Mother's Day, it is very important for them not to celebrate this festival at school without their mother. Like the years before, I was chosen as the class mother.

On such occasions I realize that our family is like a tree. The branches may grow in different directions, but only the roots hold everything together.

Excursions

We want to prevent our children from feeling "locked up". That's why we usually do something on weekends. For example, we go out to eat ice cream, visit a children's playground, or go running on the Coca-Cola mountain.

This time around there was Zumba on the mountain and of course all our children took part and did a good parade. Luz Marina was even invited by the teacher to come forward as a lead dancer.

There were also some police officers on the mountain, which attracted the attention of our children right away. They approached the state officials and made immediately new friends. They were even allowed to borrow the police hats. Our boys now also want to become police officers.
