New Children
The saying of Khalil Gibran “you have to wander through night, if you want to experience dawn” fits perfectly the story of our two new arrivals. The two sisters, Deysi (18 months old) and Yossely (4 years old) went through a very tough childhood. A year ago both of them came to the state care home DINAF and Deysi even had the chance to experience true family love and warmth in a foster home. They enabled her to have an open heart surgery past September, which saved her life and which actually made her start living life to the fullest. Under the momentarily circumstances, she is doing exceptionally well. She is off medication but attends regularly physiotherapeutic treatments which willeventually allow her to start crawling and developing as desired. Yossely was in the department for undernourished children because with her 4 years of age, measuring 76 cm and weighing 9.4 kg, it means that she is in a physical state of a 10 months old child. Our challenge is it now to provide them with their own sunrise, that every day is a new day of dawn. Jeimy and Manuel, which arrived only in April are doing really well. They feel at home, make every day new progresses and have very sunny dispostions.

Mother’s Day
The tradition has been kept up this year again and the schools organized different activities centred around mother’s day. Each school class came up with a choreography for a dance and performed it on the stage. I, Patricia, had once again the pleasure and honour to attend eight performances from our primary school scholars and 3 from the high school ones. It fills my heart each time with joy when I see how well integrated our children are in their classes and how many of them carry a central role in their micro environment. Most of them like to take on responsibility and that is a reason why they easily get accepted as leader figures. On this day I felt utterly honoured to be a mum to 40 wonderful children.

Special animal visit
Honduras has very fertile land and and an impressive fauna. It happens once in a while that we receive a visit from an exotic animal, for example a tarantula or a snake but this time around an iguana passed by. Jonathan was fearless and caught him. Afterwards all children wanted to pet him because the skin felt quite strange. The children wanted to keep the iguana as their new pet which would have meant that they planned on locking him away that he can’t escape. We had to talk them out of their plan and ensure them, that the iguana will be much happier in the nature. They agreed and let him eventually run away.

Zizima
The thermometer settled this month at a constant high but sometimes it rose over 40 degrees. The heat alone is one story but when it happens that at the same time the water and electricity supply fails, it turns into a war of nerves...That was reason enough to escape to a waterpark. The cool blue water was awelcome change to our children and they enjoyed themselves very much. When we returned the situation was under control and we were happy about our decision we tool. The reality is though different, often we are challenged with such unfortunate circumstances and we can not always run away. Often times we have to stay, face it and make the best out of it. That is also why the children showed so much appreciation.

John
With the Gran Comission we developed a close relation, a special connection we do have with John and Vanessa Moya. During the last years the friendship grew closer and closer and twice per week we have the pleasure to welcome them. Their visits are always focused on the older boys which live in the Casa Jupiter. They prepare small presentations, do workshops or talk about god and the world. Alternating they organize some creative activities which are meant to stimulate the boys creativity and imagination. At the moment they are working on key chains, crafted from different pearls and the boys can choose their own design. When they are done, John will sell them at the school and church and at the end, part of the revenue turns into their pocket money.

Gimnastrada
The highschool organises each year a Gimnastrada (gymnastics and dance competition). This year around the topic was China and each school class had to perform a remix dance and dress themselves with typical Chinese clothes and accessories. Our girls belonged to the up runners and during the price giving, the tension was high. Unfortunately, have our girls been disqualified because their choreography contained dance moves which were seen as too sexy. Despite all that, it was a learning experience at it counts that they put a lot of effort in to the making the dance, dresses and accessories. Our visitors came along as well and enjoyed the different dance shows, moreover where they astonished by the decoration they put up. The children crafted everything themselves and it looked really authentic.
