Wonderland
At the moment is Honduras facing an extreme heat front. The temperatures are reaching easily 40 degrees and the government decided that the school time must be shortened. During two weeks the children finished school at 10.30 a.m. instead of 1 p.m. We took advantage of the great weather and spent a whole day at the water park wonderland. The little ones had their fun with the water slides while the bigger girls were excited to dance with the animators. The heat was soon forgotten and the moves dominated their short time of fame. Everybody was left speechless than they were able to keep up with the professionals. It was great to watch.

Rotaract
The Rotaract Club San Pedro Sula invited us to a dental examination at an other children’s home. The afternoon started off with some explanations about the oral hygiene and how the children can protect their teeth, afterwards they received some hands-on instructions on how to brush the teeth properly. Later they were split into groups of three and went through a thorough dental treatment. Meanwhile were the other children busy playing with their new friends. At the end each child received a tooth brush and toothpaste.

Mothers day
Alike every year organized the elementary school a small celebration for the beloved mothers. All the children made a present for their mothers and presented a dance as a thank you for the love they receive from their mothers. In the secondary school they organized as well something. They had a small concert and sang beautiful songs for the mothers. I, Patricia, receive a lot of love and affection from our children. During this day I felt though especially loved as the step mother from 37 children. I bet, I was the „mother“ who got to enjoy the most hugs on during this day. I am very blessed to have a bunch of outstanding children and young adults.

Gimnastrada
At the secondary school a Gimnastrada took place under the motto Egypt. Each class has been divided into smaller groups which had to work out a Ramiz dance chorography. Our five girls in secondary school presented a great show which incorporated very well the theme. Our boys stunned the audience with a really cool breakdance performance which earned them a lot of applause. The goal of this Gimnastrada was to enable the children to work in groups, to experience the process of project work and to learn new things about unknown cultures. Furthermore was it a great opportunity to gain experience of presenting something in front of a large audience. Thanks to a lot of commitment and dedication did they handle the challenge very well.

Marathon
The university CEUTEC organized a URUN, 5 km marathon, to the benefit of „yo quiero ser...“. The event took place on may 31st at 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. and the university managed to engage many sponsors. Two educators from the children’s home participated in the 5 km run and Jonathan as well even though he was the only child to join. At the beginning Jonathan took off way too fast and struggled soon after. Nonetheless did he not give up and fought his way through until the end. We were all very impressed by his performance, he made us utterly proud. He’s a true fighter. During the run the
children stayed busy with observing the athletes and by blowing soap bubbles. Just before the price giving we were asked to come on stage. In front of over 700 spectators did we present our project “yo quiero ser...“. At the end, as a thank you, did our older girls perform a dance choreography. They had a lot of fun and it showed on their faces. They did brilliant and it was very brave of them. With the donations we are going to remodel the class rooms in our children’s home; painting the walls, installing electric fans, buying new doors and much more.
