Inauguration ceremony for the 2nd storey
6th of June the inauguration ceremony took finally place, the children were longing for this event quite a while. For this special occasion, Gerard van Kesteren, our angel and sponsor, travelled all the way from Switzerland, with his lovely wife Teresa and the board member Giatgen Scarpatetti and board member of Kesteren Foundation, Martin Aerzethauser, to San Pedro Sula to be part of it. On the soccer field tents were put up and the tables were set up for 100 people. At 11 o’clock the first guests arrived including the local TV and radio station. After the opening speech, Mayte and Gerard cut the band, after old traditions and the bishop consecrated the new storey. During the aperitif did the children present songs to express their gratefulness and presented some dances to say thank you. A folkloric dance group from church had also an appearance and animated the Swiss guests do dance along and showcase their best moves. After the main course, which was cooked with much love by our cooks and their friends, the speech of thanks took place before the proper party started. Everybody was dancing, having a good laugh and exchanging good stories. It was a wonderful afternoon. To call it a dream day, we invited everybody for some pizza. With full bellies and happy faces all the children and adults found some well deserved sleep. The board member, Giatgen Scarpatetti stayed a couple more days after the big party. He enjoyed the daily life at “yo quiero ser...”, spoiled the children with swiss choclate and his presence.

Arrival oft he container and furnishing oft he second floor
This year Firma Kühne + Nagel enabeled again the transport oft wo containers from Switzerlandand Germany to Honduras. In Hilzingen (Germany) a group of volunteers collected all kinds of material to send to San Pedro Sula. They gathered strollers, chairs, clothes, shoes, school material, furnitures, bicycles and many more things to fill up a whole container. The container from Switzerland was mainly stocked with furnitures for the newly constructed 2nd floor. We received beds, mattresses, wardrobes, desks, chairs and coaches, all kinds of things which fit perfectly into the second floor. Thanks to this generous donations we were able to furnish the new floor very cozy practical. The bathrooms and showers have running water and add to the comfort. The dorms are quite spacious and offer the elder girls, which are the lucky ones to have moved in, a lot of privacy and much appreciated space to themselves. A outstanding gain is our new IT-room. It is amazing that our children and young adults, despite their background, have access to the education through technology which ensures them automatically better chances in the professional life. In the name of all our „yo quiero ser...“-children I would love to express my gratitude to all our donators. Without their help we wouldn’t have received those precious containers, packed with plenty of useful things. Muchas gracias.

Carolina Cross Connection (CCC)
Carolina Cross connection is a organization from Carolina (USA) with the mission to spread Christ’s love to the orphans in Honduras and those caring for them, as well as to experience God’s presence and His ability to supply everything we need. At the core of CCC’s mission statement, I hope we will be able to say that we were simply responding to the same call we give every week at camp: “‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will send you out to fish for people’” (Matthew 4:19). We desire to have an Acts 1:8 model, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” During six weeks, each Tuesday and Wednesday, a group of CCC-members visited us and embellished our children’s daily lives. They played with them, sang songs, read books, painted faces and nails and spent overall quality time with the children. A lasting souvenir stays back and remains us of this wonderful weeks through the security wall which they painted in beautiful colors.

ROOM
ROOM, a children’s home organization we are close with invited us on a Saturday to learn more about god in a playful way. In different groups they went through a parkour and were happy to learn new things in a new way. After all the activities and great participation each child received a diplom.
