Carolina Cross Connection
This month we were once more blessed with the regular visits of our Carolina Cross Connection- Friends form the USA Each Tuesday and Wednesday they came bye and had some great plans for our children. At one occasion they brought violins along and the children had the chance to experience how it is to play a stringed instrument for their first time. For approximately five hours we had a constant violin concert, I leave here some space for imagination . Our girls and boys which are 12 years and older, were invited by CCC to a weekend camp in Peña Blanca. It is a beautiful place, like an oasis. The children spent 3 days with same aged children from 4 other children homes and made a lot of new friendships. They had plenty of time to bond, to laugh and to play. It even had huge swings which went over a river, that’s where they spent most of their time. After 3 days they returned back home with colorful t-shirts, designed by themselves, big smiles and plenty of stories to share with the smaller ones. For the smaller children, the CCC organized a one day trip to a beautiful private park in San Pedro Sula and they called it “The Day of the Fellowship”. Through a playful way they experienced that everybody is connected through love and compassion. On this day, 170 Honduran children came together from all walks of life and they demonstrated their fire and hope in life. It was a beautiful example to see the potential which lies within this generations and how much good it can mean for Honduras’ future. For us, the experience with CCC remains unforgettable and we would love to express our gratefulness for those memorable 6 weeks which we cherished very much.

New children
Our „yo quiero ser...“- family grew once more. The 3 siblings, Keyla (4 years), José David (2 years) and the 4-month old baby, which didn’t had a name at first is called now Ricardo, have been taken away from their mother and handed over to the public children home. As the 3 of them were standing in front of us at this gray office of DINAF we couldn’t reject them. Their faces were telling us endless stories of pain and suffering, their hearts were screaming for some shelter. Keyla even should evidence of physical abuse through her own mother. It was a heartbreaking encounter and we didn’t have to think twice, these children deserve only one thing and this is love, security and time to be children. At the beginning, Keyla and José David were very self-contained almost locked in their own little bodies. Thanks to the other children, the secureness, love, affection and devotion they were able to experience, they blossomed by the day. Ricardo, the smallest one is a true sweetheart. Around the clock he is a happy little baby boy, without any crying. He melts all our hearts away with his contagious smiles.

Daniela & Felix
For the fourth time, Daniela Steier and her boyfriend Felix Dosch, he for he second time, came to visit us. We were all very excited to have them visiting, then the children knew exactly what they were awaiting. Daniela is known for her passion and has no difficulties to play for hours with our children, she dives in to their world and they spend great play time together. This year she also took the lead with the Christmas-Mailing-Preparations, she even colored towels and bed sheets with the children and helped unpack the boxes which arrived with the container. Felix is a man for any mission. During the three weeks he repaired all the things nobody wanted to do in past. For example, he fixed to wardrobe doors, installed bathroom supplies and put a roof over the garbage lot.
At the end they even invited us to a water park and in return we organized a thank you party. Everybody was dancing, laughing and enjoying the last evening together.

Confirmation
Our „young lady“ Yulissa, the oldest out oft he girls leads by example. This year she is going to graduate from her 3rd year in highschool where she was able to participate in the “Curso de Belleza”. Over the past two years she got trained in cutting hair and doing mani- and pedicure. During this time she developed quite a bit, she became more mature and integrated herself more in the local church community where she is a active member of the health department. She participates in volunteer work and joins the doctors’ squad. Thanks to this positive development, she thought a lot about her believe and expressed at the end her will to receive the holy confirmation.

Dia del Indio
Alike every year did also this year, on the 20iest of July, the primary school worship their hero Lempira. It is the legendary sachem who fought against the Spanish conqueror. Throughout the whole country all the primary school kids dress up as Lempira and Jonathan even competed on the Native American Dress-Up Beauty Contest. With his handcrafted gown he made it to the final. Unfortunately, at the end a girl won the title „India Bonita”.

Courtyard
Our pocket of land counts approximately 1 hectare with its five main buildings, the soccer field, playground and the garden. Besides that we have an other 350 square meter fallow land which causes in dry season plenty of dust and during the rainy season a huge muddy mess. During the visit of Giatgen Scarpatetti, our board member, he raised our awareness what burden this fallow piece of land meant to us and our children. He was absolutely right and we took action right after he left. In the Ruinas Copan we bought flagstones and two local bricklayers started their task. This month they made their way half way through. Since we start to see the result we are all impatiently waiting for the end result. It means much less maintenance work on the surrounding buildings and grounds which is to everybody’s favor.
