Visitors
This month, various groups of college students, church members, and even the bishop of San Pedro Sula were our guests. For this special occasion, our children performed the Christmas story in form of a play and sang some Christmas carols. The bishop was very impressed by the artistic skills of our children and promised to visit again soon.

Moreover, we visited a Christmas play at the Great Commission, where the Christmas story was performed in modern musical style.
The same church group visited us on a Sunday, and even brought along a huge fairground ship. The children had heaps of fun and Santa Claus could not be missing, either.

Christmas, a family celebration
Livio Augustin from Alvaschein is volunteering at our home for 2 months. He was very well received from the beginning, helping us with everything as a "Swiss" craftsman. Thanks to him, the bus and all our cars have been inspected and made roadworthy again.
Tat and Tatta, Nicole, and Reto were also warmly welcomed. They are here for 3 weeks and it was especially nice to be able to celebrate these holidays with the family.
The family of our volunteer Eliane spent Christmas Eve with us at our home, so that Switzerland was very well represented this year.

Visit to the slum
In order to give thanks for all the great things and visits we could share with many people, we also wanted to bring joy to other children, and so we visited a slum just before Christmas and gave away clothes and food. In such moments, our children are made aware of their origins and of you, dear donors, who give them a "new" life.

Christmas and New Year
As always, we followed the Honduran tradition and made tamales this year. The children helped with the cutting and wrapping. This tasty speciality was enjoyed by them as an appetizer.
On Christmas Eve, we went to church, where the pastor called all the children to the front and involved them all throughout the worship.
Then, we had dinner on the sports fied. It was delicious, with dessert, apples and grapes.

Later, the children once again performed the Christmas play, opened their gifts, and at midnight we all gathered together around the crib to celebrate Jesus' birth.
On New Year’s Eve we had roughly the same program as on Christmas Eve. However, this year we had a “special guest, a little doll which we filled with all the negative things and occurrences of the year. Shortly before midnight we burned it in order to get rid of all our negative energy and start the new year “clean”.
