Christmas Message 2022 from the Children's Home

Hola

Soon we will celebrate Navidad and Año Nuevo, but before that we would like to share with you what has moved us this year and what great things, we have been able to experience thanks to your generous donations.

Since July 2022, we have finally been allowed to go back to school and participate in the face-to-face classes. We are all overjoyed that we can attend school in person again. Unfortunately, many chairs remain empty. Since the COVID pandemic, the number of students in Honduras has declined massively and this causes us great concern, because we know that only through education, we can have a lasting positive impact on our lives. However, we are proud to announce that we have completed the school year and several school-aged children among us have been awarded for their outstanding academic achievements.

To be able to go to university or start an official apprenticeship after finishing school, we need legal papers. Since some of us came into this world under difficult conditions, some children lack the legal basis to be recognized by the state. Thanks to Patricia's tireless efforts, a handful of children were issued official birth certificates again this year. Receiving this piece of paper is an indescribable feeling - a great reason to celebrate.

Every day, fresh, seasonal and varied ingredients are cooked for us. This is not a matter of course and was made even clearer to us during the COVID pandemic. Thank you that we can eat healthy and balanced food every day. In addition to the physical well-being, we are pleased every day about the many spaces in the home that offer possibilities for retreat or space for togetherness. For the youngest among us, the Sala Cuna was modernized this year. The dining room and playroom have been combined and are now very spacious. And the baby rooms have also been renovated and decorated with much love.

It never gets boring at our home. Nevertheless, we are very happy about excursions and the highlight this year was definitely the visit to the zoo. A nine-year-old who has not been living with us for so long was quite amazed because he didn't know that there are real lions and tigers. We laughed a lot, enjoyed ourselves and learned one or two new things about the world of animals.

We wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and all the best for 2023.

Muchas gracias,
your friends from the children's home "yo quiero ser...".
