Children’s Home – San Pedro Sula
Arrival of the container
This year, too, we were once again able to receive a large container filled to the brim.
Our children are now real pros when it comes to unloading and sorting. The joy is immense every time, as every child receives new clothes, shoes, soft toys, games and a bedroom wardrobe.
Anything we do not need at the children’s home ourselves is passed on to our other projects or given to those in need.
Graduation ceremony
Lia and Maria have successfully completed nursery school and are now starting Year 1.
Anahy received her diploma as a graduate in Computer Science (Bachillerato en Informática) and Geovanni received his diploma as a technical metal constructor. Both can be very proud of themselves, as they have made it and are now facing the next big step.
Anahy will study Industrial Engineering (Ingeniería Industrial), whilst Geovanni is starting a course to become a Technician in Logistics and Port Operations (Técnico en Logística y Operaciones Portuarias).
Volunteers and visitors
Daria Elvedi and Philipp Ziegler completed a voluntary placement with us. The children and the team gave them both a warm welcome from day one. They actively pitched in wherever help was needed.
Our board member Marc Ziegler, together with his wife Ana, also visited all our projects and spent a great deal of valuable time with the children.
In December, our children really felt how loved they are: numerous companies, families and groups visited us and celebrated Christmas with them a total of around 15 times. Every visitor did their very best and gave the children unforgettable days filled with food, presents and entertainment.
We spent Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve as one big “Yo Quiero Ser” family. After dinner, we always play games so that everyone is together, laughing, and no sadness or loneliness sets in. It is lively and cheerful. At midnight, we raise a toast and enjoy the fireworks together.
As we do every year, on New Year’s Eve we lit the ‘Muñeco’ – a symbolic burning of the negative aspects of the past year, to start the new year with a fresh outlook and renewed energy.
Santa Rosa de Copán Vocational Training Centre
In total, we were able to support 1’038 people in Santa Rosa de Copán in 2025, including 692 women and 346 men.
Technical training
We offered 31 courses in areas such as welding, sewing, carpentry, hairdressing, automotive electrics and other trades. The aim was to enable people to earn their own income and reduce migration.
A total of 460 people aged between 14 and 54 took part, including 306 women and 154 men. 84% of the participants were aged between 14 and 30.
Around 50% of the graduates now work independently in their own small businesses, whilst a further 12% found direct employment thanks to the training. 38% attended the course to acquire new skills.
Computer courses
To help bridge the digital divide, 183 pupils in Years 3 to 6 from seven state schools received computer lessons once a week in the mornings. In addition, 13 teachers were trained.
Nursing training
A total of 41 people (37 women and 4 men) completed the nursing training programme: 20 of them were in their second year doing placements, and 21 were in their first year taking theory lessons.
Social projects
We also distributed donations in the form of food, clothing, teaching materials and other goods to various organisations, including schools, children’s homes and facilities for mothers and children. This enabled us to support a further 341 people.
100-Houses Project Unión y Esperanza
By the end of the year, exactly 100 families were living in Unión y Esperanza, totalling 455 people, of whom 278 were children and young people (61%) and 177 were adults (39%). They are all being given a new outlook on life through housing, education and healthcare.
A medical team was deployed in October. 158 people received medical examinations and medication.
El Alpinista School
At the end of November, the first school year at El Alpinista School came to a close. A total of 275 pupils successfully completed the school year.
The pupil numbers were recorded as follows:
- Nursery: 6 children
- Pre-school: 18 children
- Year 1: 24 pupils

- Year 1: 23 pupils
- Class: 33 pupils
- Class: 27 pupils

Over the course of the year, there were 20 new enrolments, eight dropouts and nine pupils transferring to other schools.
Despite a number of challenges, the school year was successfully completed. We are proud to have supported the education of 275 pupils. Our focus remains on supporting each pupil individually and strengthening their educational development in the long term.
The graduation ceremony was recently held in the modern training centre, where the graduates proudly received their well-deserved certificates. The festive setting provided an opportunity for congratulations, souvenir photos and warm encounters between teachers, families and friends.
Clinic and training centre in Colonia Unión y Esperanza
The project involved the construction of a clinic and a training centre, which also serves as a community centre, in Colonia Unión y Esperanza.
The clinic will provide basic medical care, preventive healthcare and emergency treatment, as there is currently no such facility for the local population in the area.
The training centre serves not only for further education but also as a venue for community meetings and social activities, thereby strengthening social development and local organisation.
The clinic’s facilities include a laboratory, a doctor’s treatment room, a dental treatment room, a pharmacy and an infusions and injections room, as well as a corridor serving as a waiting area and two patient toilets.
The community room covers an area of approx. 150 m², with two toilets, a hall, an outdoor area with a café, a foundation office and a storage room.
The training centre was equipped with chairs and tables delivered by container from Switzerland. The office and storage room were also furnished with furniture from Switzerland.
The clinic also received medical equipment and furniture from the same shipment.
